BOOK
Creative expression is always a personal process - but how can we more deeply understand that process, ourselves, and where our ideas emerge from? Bringing together their expansive knowledge across the fields of music, art, education, and meditation, sound artist and healer Lavender Suarez , performance artist and musician Laima Leyton , and world-renowned drummer Iggor Cavalera will guide you through reflecting on your personal history to foster creative expression. Together, they will help you explore deeply internalized rhythms, memories, sounds, images, and sensations in a highly inspiring and supportive environment over five days.

In this workshop, we will explore meditative techniques of art therapy, dream work, deep listening, and somatic exercises alongside engaging in creative digital expression through field recording, audio recording and video editing. Bring your own creative materials, instruments, and electronic gear to expand on your ongoing projects, or come with a blank canvas and an open creative mind. We will share and create audio and/or visual works that highlight each participant's individual memories, dreams, and desires within a shared collective narrative. Play will be central to the experience, recalling the uninhibited creativity of childhood. Through these exercises, we'll attune to the sounds that have stayed with us — echoes of the past that are embedded in our lived experiences. Alongside these sessions, Iggor will share his creative process and inspire you to reflect on your existing practices as well as develop entirely new ones.

Taking place both indoors at CAMP, and outdoors in the spectacular landscape of the Haute Pyrenees (including prehistoric caves, high plateaus, mountain peaks, ancient forests and historic sites), this workshop is open to artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and anyone curious about creative reflection through sound. It offers an inspiring and deeply immersive approach to connecting with your creative self, and the world around you.

Laima Leyton is a London-based Brazilian artist, activist, musician, mother, and performer. After many years spent working at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo, Laima dived fully into music while continuing to connect with the arts and education via producing performances and workshops. In the past 15 years, she has DJed around the globe, made music, and been on tour playing keys and backing vocals with Soulwax. In 2019, she released her conceptual album "Home", addressing issues of motherhood and domesticity. From there, she became represented by Richard Saulton Gallery and started a practice with video, installations, and ready-made. In 2021, as part of InnerSwell, Laima became a Participation Resident Artist at Gasworks Gallery, working with communities around the area by using sound as a practice to activate narrative and memory. Laima has completed the Deep Listening Intensive Program at the Center for Deep Listening.

Iggor Cavalera is best known for his part as the drummer of the Brazilian super-group Sepultura. Having toured heavily around the globe, winning countless "Best Drummer" accolades and selling over 10 million records, Iggor's incredible ability to project emotion and evoke thought through his percussive talents has been given an outlet in many forms through bands such as Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy, Mixhell, Petbrick, and Soulwax.

Lavender Suarez (a.k.a C. Lavender) is an interdisciplinary sound artist, sound healing practitioner, and educator. Her work spans live performance, recording, installations, compositions, videos, and workshops. She creates immersive sound experiences that are deeply physical, emotional, and cathartic. She is the author of Transcendent Waves: How Listening Shapes Our Creative Lives (Anthology Editions), which explores how listening can serve as a powerful tool for creative inspiration. She has performed, lectured, and led workshops at renowned institutions such as MoMA, The Whitney Museum, The Guggenheim, the Hirshhorn Museum, The Rubin Museum, the Museum of the Moving Image, Fridman Gallery, and Cafe Oto, among others. Lavender has albums and recordings featured on the labels Editions Mego, Ecstatic Peace! and RVNG Intl. Her third full-length album, Rupture in the Eternal Realm, was released by iDEAL Recordings in 2024.
