In her debut workshop at CAMP, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith asks: "What do you wish you could create, but feel like you cant?"

These five days will lay out a step-by-step process of working through creative blocks, and finding pathways to navigate creative ideas, from creation to completion. Whether you're experiencing a creative block, don't know where to start, or don't know how to finish - there's an answer. Through a combination of individual and group class work, exercises with the overtone series, listening and creating in outdoors spaces, walking and exploring the epic landscape of the Haute Pyrenees, this workshop gather and focus on tools to navigate all those moments which can halt the creative process.

We'll work together to examine each participant's individual plans, sharing and witnessing each others' challenges and creative blocks. We'll work individually and as a group to create plans for building structure and finishing projects. Ultimately, you'll leave the workshop with a toolkit of strategies tailored to your practice, designed to keep your creative processes in motion, whatever blocks or problems may arise in the future.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith's music is a form of auditory interpretation, powered by curiosity and her toolkit of modular, analogue, and rare synthesizers (including her signature Buchla), orchestral textures, and voice. Since her first self-releases in 2012, she has explored the endless possibilities of electronic instruments and the relationship between sound, shape, color, body movement, and expression. Spanning releases on Western Vinyl, RVNG Intl., Ghostly International, and her own multidisciplinary project, Touchtheplants, her work has drawn acclaim from all reaches of the experimental music world, including NPR, The New York Times, The Wire, and Rolling Stone (who named Kaitlyn's 2017 LP "The Kid" their avant-garde album of the year). Her collaborations include projects with Danny Elfman, Emile Mosseri, Suzanne Ciani, and commissions for Apple, BBC Orchestra, Epcot Center, Google, and others.
